The ‘H’ Receivers were designed to be mounted behind the panel frame material, usually 3/4"/19mm wood. No flange recess is required.
‘H’ Receivers are usually used with a Type 2 or Type 3 Latch as shown here.

Rod Receivers (as shown here typically mounted in a wood 2x4 frame) have several advantages. The “setback” dimension is determined by the drill hole location, and is therefore infinitely variable, compensating for different Latch setbacks. “Press-in” installation is very simple. Various lengths are available. Cost is minimal.
